Gary Johnson

As Managing Director of Kimberley Regional Service Providers, Gary is responsible for the design, development and implementation of the strategic direction of the Company. He is also responsible for the day to day operation of KRSP and plays a vital role in the leadership and co-ordination of the Company.

Qualifications
Gary has four years Electrical Trades School, Applied Electronics, Austel Training - Company Manager Workshop, Time Management Course, Better Management Skills.

Experience
Over 35 years ago Gary relocated to Fitzroy Crossing to establish GJ Johnson and Co an electrical contracting business which still operates today. He has been an integral part of the Fitzroy Crossing community as well as the Kimberley Region as a whole, and has been essential to the successes of many community improvements. Gary has not only been instrumental in initiating these successes but also supporting and assisting through to their completion.

In 1998 he formed a joint venture with Marra Worra Worra Aboriginal Corporation to form KRSP, Kimberley Regional Service Providers. Since inception the joint venture has been rewarded with substantial contracts to provide essential and municipal services to remote Aboriginal communities in the north west of Western Australia. Under Gary’s guidance KRSP has grown from a fledgling company to one currently turning over more than $33m per annum.

In Gary’s role as Company Director, his negotiation, tendering and project delivery skills have been vital in ensuring continued success for KRSP. He is fundamental in the business development of the company and corporate management functions, including strategic business actions and relationship building, preparing submissions and prequalification applications, directing marketing and company growth activities, and mentoring professional staff.

• Training and Professional Developement

Under Gary’s leadership KRSP has grown to provide a range of quality services including maintenance, repair and capital works that improve the quality of life for Indigenous people living in the Kimberley Region of Western Australia.

As Managing Director Gary has shown a genuine commitment to promoting opportunities for Aboriginal participation at all levels in the business whilst incorporating the Aboriginal heritage of the Kimberley.
